So,
let’s look at a typical day in the life of a student at Fenix
Language Institute. In the morning, you get up and eat breakfast
with your family. You leave your house in time to walk to class.
If you need laundry washed or money exchanged, you take it along
with you because Fenix offers these services. Your first class starts
at 8:00 and is called Communicative Dynamic. This is a small class
of less than six students where you are continually interacting
with your instructor and other students in Spanish in a functional
way. You acquire vocabulary and the grammatical structures of Spanish
by using them. This class is taught in three consecutive sessions
of 50 minutes each. After Communicative Dynamic, you have time to
go to Fenix’s cafeteria, sit, relax with your friends and
have a snack. |

Your
next class, Workshop, is a 50 minute course where you and your instructor
concentrate on developing your listening, reading comprehension
and writing skills. Activities in workshop vary from reading about
and discussing current events, to guest speakers to field trips
around Zacatecas. |
After
workshop, you have your final class--minicurso. The minicourse is
a class in Mexican culture and history so that along with your developing
language skills, you also develop an understanding of how contemporary
Mexicans live and communicate. After the minicurso, you have finished
your classes for the day.
However, all students have the option of requesting an additional
hour of instruction. The Optional Study Hour is an hour of group
assistance and learning activities that target a particular field
of interest to the student. This hour is entirely optional, but
offered free of charge, so we encourage you to consider this option. |
